Summer Picnic

At the home of Branch Vice President David Rash

David RaschCentral Coast Writers Branch members gathered in Carmel Valley on the 9th of August to celebrate summer and the centennial of its parent organization, the California Writers Club. The branch provided tri-tip for the grill and chicken which member Ixchel Leagh who has spent the last several months in India transformed into a world class Tendori delight.

To give you an idea of the scope of the cuisine, the dessert table was a large as the side-dish spread. No one went away hungry!

Branch Vice President, David Rasch, opened the readings section of the festivities with a song. While the title of the song will remain safe in the memories of those lucky enough to hear it, suffice it to say it set the tone and launched the readings in grand fashion.

Harold Grice

Branch President, Harold Grice, enjoyes one of the many light moments during the readings. Or is he getting up for a return trip to the dessert table?

The very capable BBQ was provided by Harold Grice. Here, Harold's son Sam tends expertly to the job at hand. Sam's a good cook, but even he was hard pressed to keep up with the ravenous throng awaiting their share.

Just a few of the images of the day.
